The Surgical PA-C or APRN plays a crucial role in the seamless execution of surgical procedures by supporting surgeons and ensuring optimal surgical outcomes.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Assist surgeons during operative procedures.
- Prepare operating rooms and ensure that all necessary equipment is sterilized and available.
- Conduct pre-operative patient assessments.
- Provide postoperative care and monitoring.
- Coordinate patient care with other healthcare professionals.
- Perform suturing, wound care, and bandaging.
- Take patient medical histories and perform physical examinations.
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests such as X-rays and lab work.
- Develop and implement patient treatment plans.
- Administer medications and injections as prescribed.
- Educate patients and families on surgical procedures and postoperative care.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records.
