Job Summary And Qualifications

As a Dietary Technician, you will perform a variety of clerical tasks related to maintaining accurate patient diet orders and preparation of the patient meal orders. As a part of the healthcare team, you will communicate with hospital personnel to achieve the overall objectives of the Food service department.

• You will be responsible for obtaining and maintaining current patient diet information.
• You will enter current diet orders from the hospital computer system into to the food service diet office management system in a timely manner
• You will be responsible for accurate and timely preparation of each patient’s menus
• You will answer calls from nursing and other hospital personnel and communicates necessary information to appropriate staff
• You will be responsible for excellent phone etiquette with all callers including patients, family members, nursing, doctors, and other hospital personnel
  
  

What qualifications you will need:

Experience

• 3 years of experience in food service in a healthcare setting
• 1 year of experience in healthcare institution as Diet Technician – preferred
  
  

Education

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent
• Associates degree in Nutrition – preferred
  
  

Licenses and Certifications

• Current ServSafe Food Handler Permit, Travis/Williamsons County Health Department Food Handler Card or State Food Safety permit within 7 days of hire
