We are currently recruiting for a part-time Wine Educator to join our award-winning team. The Wine Educator position will be responsible for enhancing the brand value of St. Francis Winery by creating positive customer relationships through exceptional guest experiences that exceed customers’ expectations, resulting in immediate wine sales and on continuing, long-term sales and customer relationships. 


This hourly, non-exempt position is part-time and requires flexibility to work weekdays, weekends and holidays and evenings. Overtime occasionally required.


Note: The anticipated pay range for this position is between $19.50 and $23.00 per hour, plus tips and commissions.  


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

· Creates exceptional and memorable wine buying experience for each guest by understanding the guest’s needs.

· Demonstrates ability to sell and upsell wine club and wine purchases to guests to achieve daily/monthly sales goals.

· Hosts guests in the various Visitor Center experiences offered: Tasting Bar, Outdoor Seating Wine Tasting, Member Parlor, and Outdoor Seated Estate Pairings.

· Hosts seated wine and food pairing experiences.

o Pre-set tables with glassware, china, silver, linens, menus, wine lists, etc. 

o Runs food, clears, pre-busses, fires courses, marks and executes wine service. (Experience not required, but an eagerness to learn is). 

· Conduct guided tours as needed (seasonally and when available).

· Fosters a positive Brand image by providing a consistent, guest experience.

· Shares the St. Francis story to guests. 

· Demonstrate knowledge about wines, accurately describe wines, winemaking techniques, appellations, and unique aspects of wines.

· Accurately handles routine purchasing transactions, including but not limited to, operating a cash register and mobile devices, shipping wine orders, processing returns and assigning discounts.

· Participates in all Visitor Center events as needed, evenings, weekends.

· Provides general tourist information to visitors. 

· Restocks wine and merchandise, straightens and organizes display shelves as needed. 

· Copies, displays and restocks miscellaneous promotional materials.

· Washes and polishes glassware as needed.

· Maintains bar and other areas for tastings in a clean and orderly fashion. 

· Follows all Tasting Room standard operating procedures, to ensure adherence to all policies, procedures and legal requirements. 

· Packs and carries wine to cars for guests when necessary.

· Acquires and maintains thorough knowledge of St. Francis Winery and its wines. 

· Assists with special projects/promotions and other responsibilities as assigned. 

Requirements


· Minimum of 1 year of sales or food service experience. 

· Prior Tasting Room experience preferred.

· Previous sales experience as relates to high end, discretionary spending.

· Must be passionate and knowledgeable about wine and wine production.

· Excellence in creating and providing guest experiences in keeping with St. Francis core values and brand image.

· Excellent verbal communication and presentation skills, including the ability to communicate with visitors in a down-to-earth, confident, knowledgeable, warm and friendly manner.

· Able to provide general tourist information, including winery locations. 

· Ability to manage constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm.

· Proactive; anticipates needs and works to meet them.

· Knowledge of commonly used practices and procedures used in merchandising.

· Computer knowledge, skills and abilities (word processing, spreadsheet, database).

· Some activities may require working “after hours:” on evening and weekends.

· Professional appearance and demeanor.

· Must be reliable and punctual.

· Must be at least 21 years of age.
