Xavier Catholic Schools is seeking a Care Program Aide to help support the daily operations of our before, after, and extended care programs. This person will assist in creating a safe and nurturing environment for Elementary school students. The ideal candidate is passionate about child development and making a positive impact in a school setting.
This is a temporary full-time (40 hours/week) position from August through November 2024.
Responsibilities:
- Assist Childcare Program Manager in planning and facilitating age-appropriate activities, including arts and crafts, games, field trips, homework help, and other activities.
- Encourage and assist student participation and engagement in all activities.
- Support the development of social skills and positive interactions among students.
- Assist in providing health snacks and meals, while also assisting with proper hygiene, eating, and toileting practices.
- Monitor students during program hours to ensure their safety and well-being. Report any suspect abuse to the supervisor.
- Implement and enforce program rules and guidelines consistently. Communicate program policies and updates to parents/guardians.
- Respond promptly to any emergencies or incidents, following established protocols.
- Maintain open and effective communication to staff, students, and parents/guardians.
- Help set up and clean up care program rooms/spaces before and after activities.
- Ensure that all supplies and materials are properly maintained and stored.
- Safeguard confidential information and inquiries in a professional manner.
- Represent Xavier Catholic Schools professionally in interactions with stakeholders, including parents, community members, staff and students
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required. Associates degree in Early Childhood or equivalent preferred.
- Experience working with children in an educational or recreational setting is preferred.
- CPR and First Aid certification or willingness to obtain upon hire.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Patience, creativity, and a genuine interest in working with children
- Proficient in using technology including hardware, software and applications
- Demonstrates teamwork skills with individuals from diverse backgrounds
- Skilled in conflict resolution and maintaining confidentiality
- Submission to a legal background check
