What are the responsibilities and job description for the ER Access Specialist - Nights position at St. James Parish Hospital?
The ER Admission Specialist prepares and processes all documentation necessary for Emergency Room registration to St. James Parish Hospital in accordance with the policies and procedures of St. James Parish Hospital.
- Collects complete demographic and financial information from the patient and/or family at the time of registration.
- Explains pertinent policies, rights, and consents per federal and state regulatory guidelines. Obtains appropriate signatures on all forms applicable to the patient type.
- Verifies the patient’s insurance eligibility. Identifies and understands patient benefits and financial responsibility.
- Assumes the responsibility for Point-of-Service Collections by collecting patient portion that supports SJPH financial policies. Provide the patient with other possible sources for financial support in accordance with hospital procedures.
- Complete all fields when doing complete registration (census edits) and enters appropriate notes for communication.
- Completes process for inpatient admissions from ER. Includes admission paperwork.
High School Graduate
- One year of directly related experience in a health care setting.
- NAHAM or AAHAM Certification preferred.
- Current CPI certification
- Computer and typing skills
- Ability to multi-task
- Excellent public relations skills.
Work Schedule: Night shift including some weekends and Holidays 12-hour shifts. May have to work days occasionally.
