St. John’s United Methodist Church (Baton Rouge, LA) seeks compassionate individuals to fill vital roles in Youth Ministry, Children's Ministry, and Communications, Children’s. These positions are part-time, but applicants may seek either part-time or full-time employment with us. We are looking for the right candidate(s) and will modify the responsibilities and compensation based on the gifts, needs, and preferences of the most qualified candidate(s).
About the Youth and Children's Ministries positions
Primary Role: Cultivate and nourish a thriving discipleship ministry for the children, teens, and young families of our community, striving to increase, both spiritually and numerically, our engagement with the next generation.
- Candidates may apply for one or both positions.
- Children’s Ministry serves children from birth through 5th grade and their families.
- Youth Ministry serves students in 6th-12th grades and their families.
- Candidates will possess strong organizational and administrative skills, as well as a love for young people and a deep interest in relating to and leading them.
Hours & Compensation for Children’s and Youth Positions
- Youth Ministry - Minimum of 10 hours/week - Compensation: $13,000-$16,000; Proportional to experience
- Children’s Ministry - Minimum of 8 hours/week - Compensation: $12,000-$15,000; Proportional to experience
- Both positions require availability on Sunday mornings. Other hours may be flexible, with the possibility of working remotely.
About the Communications position
Primary Role: Guide the development and execution of both internal and external communications strategies, ensuring they effectively articulate and support the mission and vision of St. John’s UMC.
- Candidates will have experience in graphic design, written communication, social media, web design, and project management.
- Candidates will be creative, innovative, and strategic thinkers. Additionally, they will be self-motivated, prioritize well, and have strong time management skills.
Hours & Compensation for Communications position
- Minimum 12 hours/week; hybrid work schedule, with the possibility of fully remote
- Compensation: $11,500-$15,000; Proportional to experience
Full-Time Career Opportunity: Assuming all three positions qualify the individual for full-time employment status.
