Job Summary/Scope
Performs skilled mechanical work in the maintenance and repair of equipment in wastewater treatment plant and lift stations. Responsible for the lubrication of all mechanical equipment on and off the plant, as specified in equipment manufactures O&M's. Maintains records on lubrication and maintenance activities. No supervisor or budgetary responsibilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
REMOVES, INSPECTS, TROUBLESHOOTS, and REPAIRS/REBUILDS mechanical and electrical systems for various outstations pumping equipment.
MAINTAINS daily record of all maintenance and problems of lift station and RECORDS running hours of lift stations and the cleanliness of station and property where station is located.
PERFORMS daily lubrication on moving parts with specified lubricants on all equipment as specified by manufacturer and KEEPS lubrication areas neat and clean.
ASSISTS in TROUBLESHOOTING malfunctions on, but not limited to: pumps, valves, mechanical assemblies, and pneumatic assemblies
MAINTAINS daily records and charts of lubrication and oil changes.
ASSISTS in ADJUSTING, ALIGNING, and INSTALLING pumps, conveyors, hoists, blowers, aerators, gear box assemblies, piping, air lines, heat exchangers and related assemblies
PARTICIPATES in manufacturer-sponsored training programs as assigned by water protection management.
REQUIRED to be on-call and respond to emergencies as needed.
ASSIST in MAINTAINING and OVERHAULING water, chemical sludge, clarifiers, aeration basins, grit and refuse removal equipment
REPLACES air filters and oil for equipment and refills with required amount of oil according to O&M's.
ASSISTS other maintenance personnel as needed.

Required (Essential) Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
One to three years prior experience in related field required.
Knowledge of basic functions and operations of Industrial Equipment and ability to repair and maintain as necessary.
Knowledge of industrial controls and mechanical equipment preferred.
Ability to operate a forklift.
Able to bend, kneel, stoop, climb, crouch and other physical activities as required to perform maintenance work.
Must be computer literate.
Skills in electrical circuitry and mechanical troubleshooting/repair.
Ability to read and understand mechanical equipment prints, schematics, and diagrams.
Ability to analyze problems and follow through to correct.
Valid driver's license required.
For employees hired into this position after January 1, 2017, the employee must have a Missouri "D" level Wastewater Treatment License or obtain within the six (6) month probationary period.
Material and Equipment Directly Used
Uses a variety of equipment including a forklift, trucks, hand tools and small power tools, various types of lubrication tools, all types of electrical and mechanical diagnostic and relay tools and equipment. Drives light vehicle. There may be times when use of personal vehicle may be required.
Working Environment/Physical Requirements
Works is performed inside the plant environment and offsite outside, subject to varying temperature and weather conditions. Routinely lifts 50 pounds, occasionally 70-100 pounds with assistance. Exposure to dust, fumes, grease and hydraulic oil. Exposure to varying intensities of noise. Must use drum dollies to move lubricants in drums weighing up to 600 pounds. Exposure to frequent varying intensities of noise. Some overnight or day travel may be required for business purposes. Vacation and other leave scheduling shall be requested of and approved by the appropriate supervisor.
Education
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Passing of a drug screening required prior to appointment.
