Description:

Join the growing field of Electrophysiology and be on the cutting edge of treatment for cardiac arrhythmias in the Cardiovascular Institute that opened September 4th, 2018. The new area offers state of the art technology consisting of 2 labs and 1 procedure room. The procedures include tilt table testing, implantation of loop recorders, pacemakers and internal cardiac defibrillators, electrophysiology studies with cryoablation and/or ablation utilizing different mapping systems. Working with a team of credentialed electrophysiologists, we provide inpatient and outpatient procedures Monday - Friday. Our highly trained nurses provide comprehensive interdisciplinary care for stable and critically ill patient populations.

What you will do:

Monitor and assist with procedures, deliver care modalities including care of critically ill patients while in the lab.

Care of patients from admission to discharge including care in post-procedure phase until transition to the next level of care.

Collaborative team approach, coordinate and direct care with electrophysiologists, anesthesiologists, and LPN/ IR/scrub techs .

  • Provide excellent care and practice per clinical services standards of care guidelines.
  • Utilizing the Nursing Process, plans, directs and supervises the care of patients in addition to being involved in the provision of direct care of patients and families.
  • Participate in precepting and mentoring students and new staff.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensures quality nursing care is rendered to all patients in accordance with the New York Nurse Practice Act, National Standards of Practice, and Nursing and Clinical Service standards of care and practice .
  • Utilizing the Nursing Process, plans, directs and supervises the care of patients in addition to being involved in the provision of direct care of patients and families.

Education, Training, Experience, Certification and Licensure:

  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and current licensure, or eligibility for licensure, in the State of New York. Graduate Nurses or RN’s with less than 1 year of experience please apply to the GN residency postings.
  • Minimum of 2 years cardiac/telemetry experience required . Critical Care experience preferred .
  • Maintains current BLS/CPR and ACLS certification.
  • Participates in orientation, continuing education to stay current with practice and skills related to specific areas of expertise.
  • National certification is promoted and supported for clinical ladder growth.

Physical Demands:

  • Medium work: must be able to lift 25 pounds frequently; occasionally lifting maximum of 50 pounds. Will require ability to stand, walk, sit, bend, twist, squat and reach.

Supervised By:

  • Team Leader, Clinical Coordinator, Unit Manager, and Clinical Services/Nursing Administration.
