What are the responsibilities and job description for the Community Support Worker - Family Treatment Court - Part Time position at St. Louis County Circuit Court?
Family Court of St. Louis County is seeking to enter into a professional service agreement for a Community Support Worker in the Court’s Child Protective Services Department and acts as an officer of the Court. These services are grant-funded through the Drug Court Coordinating Commission from July 1, 2024 to June 30, 2025, with a possibility for renewal.
Work involves serving a client caseload by assessing and providing on-going support in the areas of life skills, medical needs, housing, employment, substance abuse treatment referrals/information, parenting and financial management.
The professional service agreement is funded at $16.71/hour working up to 25 hours/week. A one year commitment to the position is highly preferred.
Essential Job Functions:
· Makes client assessments to determine individual strengths and needs in the areas of education, daily living skills, medical needs, housing, employment, financial management, substance abuse treatment, parenting, aftercare, legal, and on-going support.
· Conducts in-home visits of participating client, monitors home environment for family safety and health issues. Follows established procedures for corrective action.
· Provides information, education, and referral assistance to clients and families regarding the types and availability of services which may assist in the client’s rehabilitation. Assists client in obtaining services to help with outstanding warrants, housing, transportation etc...
· Provides individualized assistance in creating a personal support system that includes work with family members, legal guardians, or significant others regarding the needs and abilities of the identified client.
· Develops and maintains productive relationships with community referral resources (i.e. homeless shelters, DV shelters, NA/AA group meetings, gas / electric bill assistance, dental and medical care).
· Provides training in daily living skills (i.e. housekeeping, cooking, personal grooming).
· Maintains regular contact with client to keep engaged in treatment.
· Provides crisis intervention services as needed.
· Attends court proceedings; provides testimony as a member of the treatment team.
· Models a standard behavior that is at all times consistent with agency expectations and program philosophy as described in the policy and procedure manual.
Examples of Other Duties:
· Participates on Family Court and community task forces and special committees as requested.
· Assists in coordinating client services among participating referral agencies to reduce duplication, consolidate service delivery and improve program effectiveness; assist in reviewing and evaluating program activities and participates in planning and developing new and expanded services.
· Attends staffing’s, Departmental meetings, FST, TDM, Case Conferences, SAFETI fundraising events etc. as scheduled.
· Creates, maintains and updates community referral services information.
· Other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Social Work, or a related social/behavioral science is preferred. Plus, one year of professional work experience performing community support; one year of experience involving chemical dependency preferred; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience. NOTE: All selected individuals will be required to submit to a background check.
