What are the responsibilities and job description for the Teaching Aide position at St. Matthew's EEC?
The role of Teaching Aide is very important to our school! Many families need coverage beyond the school day and our Aides help make that possible. The hours for this position would be 12pm-6pm.
Responsibilities:
Child Care Aides duties include (but are not limited to):
- Following the teacher’s lesson plan, engage in activities and games that cover all aspects of development – social, emotional, physical, and cognitive.
- Ensure all children are involved in developmentally appropriate activities.
- Assist in maintaining an environment that is child-centered, stimulating, and safe.
- Classroom cleanliness must be maintained.
- Maintain a good working relationship with colleagues regarding shared equipment and shared space.
- Assist in providing creative “hands-on” process oriented art activities.
- Work with small groups of children to strengthen and stimulate language development.
- Assist in supervising and providing appropriate guidance to children.
- Participate as required in staff meetings and staff development workshops. The BWCUMC conference in August is mandatory.
- Assist in recording significant incidents and experiences.
- Further your own early childhood education by attending classes and workshops. Maintain training hours and credentials as required by MSDE (or as dictated by the Director until credentialing is reinstated).
- Exhibit professionalism through
- Attendance and punctuality.
- Adhering to dress code.
- Communicating effectively with parents, co-workers and office staff.
- Completing paperwork/files in a timely manner.
- Performing other duties as requested and/or needed.
- Showing progress in areas identified as “needing improvement.”
Qualifications
90-hour Preschool Certification
9 hour Communication Course
