St. Michael the Archangel/Mary Mother of Peace Catholic parish is looking for a Finance Assistant to support our day-to-day transactions, including expenses and payroll. Finance Assistant responsibilities include processing payments, maintaining cost reports and managing invoices. If you have an accounting background and experience with payables, payroll and QuickBooks transactions, we’d like to meet you. Ultimately, you’ll help maintain our financial health and make sure we use our resources beneficially.
Responsibilities
- Update QuickBooks financial database with daily transactions
- Track and reconcile bank statements
- Create cost analysis reports (fixed and variable costs)
- Enter weekly payroll through third party payroll processing service and keep organized records
- Keep track of employee time off
- Record accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Process invoices for payment
- Order routine supplies for Parish
- Provide administrative support during budget preparation
- Participate in quarterly and annual audits
- Manage Vendor accounts
- Use proprietary software to record and report weekly parishioner contributions
- Support special events and fundraising activities
- Other financial duties as assigned
- Assist Clergy and other staff as needed
- Strictly adhere to accounting procedures in accordance with Diocese of Wilmington Guidelines
Skills
- Work experience as a Finance Assistant, Full Charge Bookkeeper or similar role
- Good knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping procedures
- MS Excel skills (creating spreadsheets and using financial functions)
- High Proficiency with QuickBooks accounting software
- Organizational and time-management skills
- Attention to detail, with an ability to spot numerical errors
- Ability to communicate effectively with clergy, co-workers, parishioners and vendors
- Ability to work independently
- Bilingual Spanish/English a plus
