St. Michael’s Country Day School is seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic Spanish Teacher to join our faculty. The Spanish teacher is responsible for planning and implementing an engaging, developmentally appropriate language program for students in Toddler through 5th grade. The ideal candidate will foster a love of language learning while integrating cultural experiences and supporting students’ curiosity about the Spanish-speaking world.
Desired Qualifications:
The ideal candidate is an educator who inspires students to engage with language and culture in meaningful, creative ways. They will bring content expertise, a collaborative spirit, and a student-centered approach to teaching.
Bachelor’s degree in Spanish, World Languages, Elementary Education, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred)
Fluency in Spanish and strong knowledge of Spanish-speaking cultures
Minimum of two years of successful teaching experience with elementary students (Toddler–5th grade experience preferred)
Ability to design and deliver a developmentally appropriate, hands-on, and inquiry-based Spanish curriculum
Familiarity with play-based and project-based teaching methods for younger learners
Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
Commitment to ongoing professional development and reflective teaching practices
Experience integrating technology to enhance language learning
Responsibilities:
Design and implement a Spanish language program that supports students’ linguistic, cultural, and cognitive development
Foster a joyful and engaging classroom environment that encourages risk-taking and curiosity in language learning
Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners across Toddler–5th grade
Collaborate with grade-level and special area teachers to integrate Spanish into interdisciplinary units where appropriate
Support students’ social-emotional growth through participation in the school’s advisory and community-building initiatives
Communicate effectively with families about student progress and curriculum highlights
Participate in school events, faculty meetings, and professional development opportunities
Support the school’s mission and values, including a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
