St. Norbert College (SNC), a nationally-ranked, private, Catholic, liberal arts college is seeking a Marketplace Shift Supervisor. This position is responsible for supporting Ruth’s Marketplace in the absence of the Manager and P.M. Assistant Manager. This is a working supervisor position that spends a majority of the shift working in the Marketplace servery as well as training and overseeing the work of students. Specific responsibilities Direct and oversee the work of 10-12 students in the Marketplace servery. Assigns workstations. - 20% Oversee meal service, using standardized procedures and safe use of equipment to ensure the quality of items. Serve food in a timely manner while providing excellent customer service. Monitors and records food and equipment temperature levels according to food safety practices. - 25% Train students to work all stations in Marketplace servery, dish room and seating areas. This includes safe use of equipment, proper cleaning procedures and closing duties. - 15% Support summer conference and catering business, including general housekeeping, deep cleaning and meal service. - 10% Clean and sanitize all work areas, dinnerware, equipment and supplies. - 10% Closes meal service following standard procedures. Locks and secures Marketplace. Documents progress reports at the end of day, closes the cash register and makes cash deposits. - 10% Set up, clean up stocking and replenishing of food, equipment and dinnerware during shift. Maintain inventory, stock food, stock coolers, prep food, sweep and mop, take out garbage and recycling, wash pots, pans and dishes. - 10% Perform additional duties as assigned and attend College required training. Regular attendance is required. Work in a manner that is aware of personal safety and the safety of others and observes safety, health and sanitation codes, regulations, or practices required by the College or governmental authority. Required Minimum Qualifications: Education - High School Diploma or equivalent Experience and Credentials - 2 years of retail/institutional food service experience or equivalent. 1 year of supervisory and cash handling experience Ability to obtain ServSafe Manager certification upon hire Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse campus environment or commitment to do so as an employee of St. Norbert College. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities - Ability to work in a fast paced environment. Ability to interact professionally with coworkers and customers, particularly in conflict situations. Ability to talk politely and resolve customer service issues. Ability to multitask, meet specific deadlines, and prioritize tasks and assignments. Ability to communicate verbally and in writing. Skilled in basic math computations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Knowledge of computer programs (Microsoft Office, Google Apps) and ability to learn upgrades and new programs as needed. Ability to exercise good judgment and decisions in an expeditious manner. Skilled at setting a good example for others. Ability to concentrate and focus in a noisy environment. Ability to pass a post offer functional capacity test. Working Conditions: Regular work hours are M – F, 12:00 pm – 8:00 pm. This position is expected to work on campus on a regular basis. Rotating weekends every 5 - 6 weeks. Mornings are generally not required and the position is not expected to travel. Wet floors, noisy, repetitive movements, active during the entire shift. This is a 12 month position that works 10 months at Ruth’s, and 2 months as summer conference business support.
