What are the responsibilities and job description for the Child Care Attendant position at St. Paul's Lutheran Church?
We are looking for someone to provide dependable, safe, secure and nurturing care to children during Sunday worship and fellowship times.
Responsibilities:
- Provide age-appropriate care for children age 0-10. This includes: feeding, changing diapers, escorting to the bathroom, maintaining a safe environment, holding or sitting with and cheerfully interacting with children using games, stories, play, and prayer.
- Be polite, friendly and courteous to all children, parents, and volunteers.
- Regular child care hours include every Sunday 9:15AM-11:30AM. You are expected to work all Sundays, even those that fall on holidays. You may be asked to occasionally work additional hours with advance notice (example: Stay an hour later to watch children during an adult educational session).
- Stay until children are secured with a responsible adult.
- In the event of an emergency, notify parent via the communication system (cell phone)
- Straighten the room and clean toys/changing area before leaving. All toys that have had contact with saliva must be cleaned using sanitizing solution available in the nursery.
- Report to the church Office Administrator any issues which are hindering attendant’s ability to carry out these duties and responsibilities.
- Communicate in advance, by phone, to the church Office Administrator 1. Any planned absences with two weeks advance notice; and 2. Any unplanned absences at least two hours prior to the beginning of the shift.
- Complete annual Sexual Harassment training, as required by NYS.
Qualifications:
- Be at least 16 years old
- Have experience caring for children age 0-8 with the ability to adapt and interact positively with a variety of personalities.
- Have current CPR and First Aid certification (preferred)
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $15.50 - $16.50 per hour
Expected hours: 2 – 3 per week
Schedule:
- Weekends only
