The St. Paul's Schools is pleased to announce an opening for a full-time upper school math teacher at St. Paul's School for Girls for the 2022-2023 school year.

School Overview

The St. Paul's Schools is a family of independent schools located in Brooklandville, Maryland. With more than 1,400 students from ages 6 months to grade 12, St. Paul's Pre and Lower School (coed), St. Paul's School for Girls, and St. Paul's School for Boys share a 120-acre campus, an Episcopal affiliation, and a focus on developing confident, well balanced students who will use their education and ethics to improve the world. In July 2018, the schools unified under the umbrella of The St. Paul's Schools, with a single board of trustees and one president, but each school retains its individual traditions and its gender-specific programs. A coordinated structure allows The St. Paul's Schools to preserve the small-school feel within each school while sharing resources and certain programs to maximize opportunities for students. With St. Paul's unique model, boys and girls are taught together and separately at just the right times in their development.

Specifically, St. Paul's School for Girls has over 430 girls in grades 5-12. Position Description

The primary responsibility of this full-time position is to teach Math in the Upper School. Qualified candidates are engaging and dynamic classroom teachers with experience in developing student-centered lessons and curricula. We seek an individual who is experienced in teaching a wide range of math courses including Geometry and Statistics. Classes taught by this individual will be rigorous, relevant, well-planned, innovative, and student-centered.

Key Qualifications

1. A bachelor's degree in mathematics or related field is a must; a master's is preferred

1. Minimum three years of experience teaching upper school mathematics is preferred

1. Be able to design and employ instructional methods that meet the needs of a diverse range of learners

1. Be able to relate mathematical content to real-world examples and applications

1. Be willing to work with Upper School Learning Services Team to support students

1. Be proactive in communicating student concerns

1. Employ strong technology skills, including familiarity with tools that support learning and organization

1. Be willing to collaborate with members of mathematics department, other faculty groups, and administrators to plan and implement departmental and school-wide goals

1. Be able to function well both independently and in a team setting

1. Communicate effectively and in a timely manner, meet deadlines, and be proactive and efficient in grading and returning student work

1. Employ strong interpersonal, communication, writing, and organizational skills

1. engage fully in the life of the school, beyond classroom responsibilities

In addition to teaching, full-time faculty members serve as student advisors, club mentors, and contribute in other significant ways to the work of the community. We are especially interested in candidates with coaching experience and/or those who can demonstrate initiative and serve as coaches in a variety of significant ways outside of the classroom. Other supervisory responsibilities and duties are shared among faculty members.
