Part-Time Hourly, 24-28 hours weekly

Position Summary

The part-time receptionist/membership secretary provides receptionist duties and administrative duties on behalf of St. Paul United Methodist Church. They do so in a positive, enthusiastic manner displaying the shining light of Jesus. This includes, but is not limited to, communication, membership, database management, facility use, and supporting the work of the ministry team leaders.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Answer phone calls and oversee phone system, including updating message and forwarding calls.
  • Assist walk-ins.
  • Follow up and process hospitalizations, prayers, illnesses, deaths and visitation requests using workflow processes where automation is beneficial.
  • Serve as church membership secretary to include maintaining and updating membership records, attending church council and conference meetings in reference to membership role.
  • Prepare, distribute, and process lists of members to be removed.
  • Office volunteer recruitment, training, supervision, and coordination.
  • Order office supplies, discipleship materials and other items as needed.
  • Coordinate reservations, calendar, HVAC scheduling and facility requests.
  • Manage and resupply office equipment and schedule maintenance, including key coordination.
  • Record and process memorial gifts.
  • Make name badges, as requested.
  • Record and oversee all attendance as part of the database oversight.
  • Manage church electronic and hardcopy files.
  • Coordinate the use of church vehicles.
  • Any other duties as requested.
Skills and Qualifications

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite with the ability to learn new software as needs arise. Highly organized. Able to be self-directed and work independently. Committed to the mission and vision of St. Paul UMC. Self-motivated, enthusiastic, maintains confidentiality, can effectively multi-task. Possess excellent communication skills in both verbal and written manners.

Education/Experience

College Degree preferred, 4 year’s experience working in a fast-paced office. The spiritual gifts of administration and leadership are highly desired.
