What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Tech/General Labor position at St. Petersburg Yacht Club?
Job Description
We are currently looking to hire a full-time staff member in our Club's maintenance department. This position is responsible for working under the direction of our Facilities Director and assisting with repairs, ongoing maintenance, and general cleanliness of our Club's five facilities. Though not a necessity, experience in carpentry, painting, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and/or other trades is a bonus. This is usually a dirty job, requiring a positive attitude and willingness to do whatever it takes to complete the day's various tasks. Candidates with experience in electrical or HVAC may start at the higher end of the pay scale.
During the training period, the typical work week consists of Monday - Friday 8am-5pm. After a training period has been completed, the schedule will likely include working weekends. Please do not apply if weekend work is not an option for you.
Responsibilities
- Maintains a clean and safe work environment
- Helps other departments as necessary
- Maintains awareness of and continually practices safe work habits
- Maintains cleanliness on projects both during and after job completion
- Performs related duties as assigned or as the situation dictates
Qualifications
- Unlimited or unimpaired ability to walk, bend, stoop, climb, and work safely around water, on a ladder, or in confined spaces
- Must be able to lift up to 70 pounds
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Must be able to work in harsh environments (outside, inside, alone, in excessive heat/cold, above/below ground, etc)
