Job Overview
St. Rita School for the Deaf is a Catholic school, educating students of all faiths in a Christ-centered barrier-free communication environment through individualized instruction, personal attention, and direct communication. Instruction is provided through the use of American Sign Language or sign language paired with spoken language. The intervention specialist or Teacher of the Deaf will provide intervention services to support literacy and math skill development.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement individualized education plans and evaluation team reports for students with varying abilities and report on progress every 9 weeks.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, related services providers, and outside agencies including school districts to help the student achieve their goals.
- Provide direct support to students in literacy and math.
- Monitor student progress and adjust interventions as necessary to ensure optimal outcomes.
- Facilitate small group tutoring sessions focused on specific skill development.
- Create a positive learning environment and manage classroom discipline.
- Communicate effectively with parents regarding student progress and strategies for support at home.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills for effective instruction with this special population.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Proficient in classroom management techniques that promote engagement and learning.
- Knowledge of childhood development principles to support age-appropriate learning activities.
- Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Experience working with children who have behavioral needs.
- Proficient in American Sign Language.
- Licensed intervention specialist or Teacher of the Deaf - resident educators accepted.

Pay: $50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
