What are the responsibilities and job description for the Intake and Enrollment Specialist (Supportive Housing) position at St. Vincent de Paul Society of Lane County?
PRIMARY PURPOSE
The Intake and Enrollment Specialist will meet with all prospective participants to assess both need and eligibility and will serve as the primary connection for Veterans to access SSVF services. This position will require a significant degree of autonomy, as well as the ability to work with a team.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct Intake responsibilities for the SSVF program, maintain program participant records, protect participant confidentiality, obtain sensitive information in a non-judgmental manner.
- Assist those who are camping or are living in non-habitable situations who may qualify for SSVF, engage in crisis intervention strategies with SSVF program participants when appropriate.
- Collect required SSVF intake program documentation and data for accurate assessment and intake of low-income Veteran families and program eligibility.
- Assist program participants in completing SSVF program intake forms, explain program services to Veterans including scheduling.
- Uses the Lane County Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) to complete front door assessments on Veteran participants to place them onto the county’s centralized waitlist, uses HMIS to monitor Lane County’s Veteran By Name List (VBNL).
- Understand and follow complex written and oral instructions, rules, and procedures.
- Gather, sort, prepare, and check documentation in files for accuracy and completeness according to program policies, and enter data into tracking systems in a thorough and timely manner.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain adherence to Company policies, safety/ergonomic standards, and good housekeeping practices.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as required
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Possesses a BA/BS in a social services field or commensurate, related social services and case management experience, or a combination thereof.
- Experience working with people that are low income, unhoused, or Veterans.
- A combination of experience and relevant education may be considered in lieu of degree.
- Able to proficiently use computer devices and software programs including databases, word processing, spreadsheets, internet browser, email, tablets and smartphones (Apple or Android), office equipment including fax machines and copiers.
- Excellent time management skills
- Ability to deescalate situations using a trauma-informed approach.
- Ability to work independently and navigate complex situations.
- Ability to network and maintain working relationships with clients, vendors, and community partners.
- Ability to successfully problem solve.
- Possesses a valid driver’s license and drives participants in a company vehicle. Eligibility for company insurance.
