The General Laborer racks, strings and hangs parts, sets up and breaks down loads, and wraps and secures parts for shipping. The General Laborer also performs a variety of straightening process, shapes and smooths metal parts
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Shapes metal work pieces with hammers and other small tools
- Smooths metal surfaces or edges
- Measures dimensions of completed products to verify conformance to customer specifications
- Immerses objects in cleaning or coating solutions
- Operates grinding equipment
- Racks, strings and hangs parts as needed
- Sets up and breaks down loads
- Wraps and secures parts to pallets for shipping as needed
- Operates forklift
- Follows paperwork flow, QA and Shop Floor policies and procedures
- Maintains punctual, regular and predictable attendance
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
No prior education, experience or training necessary.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to understand various measurement systems and how to convert between them.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving mostly concrete variables in standardized situations.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Forklift certification required and can be provided by Stack Metallurgical Services, Inc.
