Hudson, NY Full Time
POSTED ON 8/5/2025
AVAILABLE BEFORE 10/4/2025

STAIR is looking for an enthusiastic and well-organized Graphic Designer to join the marketing team full time in Hudson, NY.

STAIR Galleries was established in 2001 and is located in the heart of the vibrant antiques and shopping district in Hudson, New York. We are one of the leading regional auction houses in America. Our dedicated team of professionals at STAIR provide a high level of expertise, exemplary client service, and share a common passion.

STAIR is small by design, allowing for flexibility and personalized service. Our creative business strategy enables us to sell a single item or an entire estate, with an emphasis on Selling Interesting Things, From Interesting People. We truly understand the rapidly changing auction market and have the proven ability to respond to our client’s individual needs with integrity. We balance the expectations of a modern marketplace with the charm of a traditional auction house.

Working at an auction house offers a dynamic, fulfilling career for those with a passion for history, art, and culture. Your work will be seen by some of the greatest collectors, curators, artists, and buyers, making a significant impact on the auction experience. Preparing and participating in auction events can be exhilarating. The excitement during auctions, the anticipation of bidding wars, and the satisfaction of successful auctions create a unique atmosphere.

Job Summary

The Graphic Designer for STAIR is responsible for the design and development of all creative assets for the STAIR brand. You will work collaboratively with all members of the team to bring the STAIR brand to life across our website and digital presence, advertising, sale branding, gallery enhancements, proposals, and more. You will lead the relationship with vendors and partners like publishers, printers, and fabricators to execute special projects. You are excited at the idea of aiding in building a heritage brand and honing a point of view that shapes our identity and client experience.

In an average week, you might collaborate with a specialist on a newsletter or feature story, design branding for a new tentpole auction, develop a print ad for a major publication, and assist with a marketing photoshoot for an upcoming consignment. You are a doer who has excellent and proven communication and time management skills, with a passion for art history and storytelling.

This role reports to the Director of Marketing.

Responsibilities

  • Efficiently manage your workload based on existing timelines and deadlines, and effectively communicate your approach and support needed. We are a close-knit team in a fast-paced environment, so being adaptive to change and being able to communicate is critical.
  • Lead design efforts across digital and print marketing materials, including advertisements, banners, email newsletters, and gallery enhancements
  • Develop sale-specific branding for single-owner and tentpole sales, crafted with intention, and an informed point of view towards the property type, collector, and art history.
  • Partner with the Photography Lead to establish visual consistency across brand photography as it is translated to the website, advertising, and printed materials.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing Coordinator on maintaining the editorial calendar and sharing editorial ideas, coverage, and content across STAIR channels.
  • Work with the Director of Marketing to identify opportunities to continue to grow the STAIR brand and establish creative consistency.
  • Partner with members of the administrative and specialist teams to develop proposals for new business, including managing the project timeline, developing text and creative for the proposal, and implementing templates for future projects.
  • Manage creative updates to our website, and the development of weekly newsletters, ensuring consistency across our messaging and visual approach.

We would love to meet you if you:

  • Have a love and passion for “the stuff”: the property, the people, and the stories that surround the world of art and antiques
  • Are excited about expanding your portfolio with a diverse set of projects and mediums
  • Want to be a part of a growing, collaborative team who is always looking for ways to tell interesting stories about interesting people
  • Are seeking an engaging, in-person working environment where you can get out from behind the screen and gain a deeper connection to art, antiques, and history
  • You’re excited to be hands-on in developing creative work, and but keen to understand insights to constantly evolve your approach and point of view

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Art History, Graphic Design related fields or equivalent
