What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fleet Mechanic position at Standard Utility Construction?
Job Description:
Responsible for repairs on trucks and other automotive vehicles. Discuss problems with vehicle operators to discover faults, listen to engines, fit and operate special test equipment and test drive vehicles. Estimates needed repairs and discusses with customer. Relines and adjusts brakes. Repair or replace worn and faulty parts by removing assemblies such as engines, transmissions, differentials or steering gear using wrenches, hydraulic jack or hoist; dismantle them and check parts, referring to manuals as necessary. Experience with hydraulics and aerial lifts required for this position.
Minimum Requirements:
Average 40-50 hours per week and on call as needed. Requires basic skills in math.Must be able to fluently read, write, speak and comprehend English. Requires high level of attention to detail. Must have technical aptitude. Must follow all safe work practices. If not certified, will be required to attend certification courses. NDA/Non-compete agreement required. Required to have a valid Driver License.
Preferred Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Diesel experience helpful. CDL license preferred.
Physical Requirements:
Requires working outdoors in all types of weather. May be required to work long and unpredictable hours. Must be able to stand for long periods of time on varied surfaces. Must be able to move freely, including ability to stoop, crawl, and bend at the knees and waist. Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds unassisted. Must be able to pass pre-employment screening that includes background and drug testing.
