What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cannabis Laboratory Technician position at Standard Wellness Company LLC?

Position Summary:

The Edibles Laboratory Technician is the primary person in the production of high-quality cannabis-infused edibles. The individual will also assist with the extraction process along with cleaning and maintaining laboratory and equipment, recording and entering data, and associated tasks. The Laboratory Technician will be responsible for the consistent, sanitary, and safe production of cannabis extracts and infused products utilizing company policies to successfully uphold quality and consistency of all products produced in compliance with State of Ohio medical marijuana laws and legislation.

 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Follow Standard Operating Procedures for the daily operation of the lab and fully comply with state laws and regulations
  • Production of infused edibles, including, but not limited to, gummies, chocolates, and olive oil; assist with the production of other infused products such as patches and lotions
  • Perform CO2 and butane extraction of cannabis materials
  • Perform stripping, grinding, and decarboxylation of cannabis materials
  • Perform post-extraction processes, including wax removal, solvent recovery, wiped film distillation, and mixing for vape pens
  • Assist with the creation of batch production records and maintain a detailed log of procedures and results
  • Examine product samples during production to evaluate quality, color, and texture
  • Perform necessary equipment maintenance and safety checks in accordance with manufacturer specifications
  • Follow all Good Manufacturing and Serv Safe practices
  • Follow established sanitation practices for staff, equipment, and facilities to ensure quality measures are met to maintain high quality of product
  • Other duties as assigned by your supervisor

 

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Must have a high school diploma, or the equivalent
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, helpful
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in cannabis extraction or food/edibles production, helpful
  • Must be able to pass all background check and licensing requirements as set forth by the state for working in the medical cannabis industry
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of quality control methods
  • Knowledge of state and local cannabis policy and law
  • Knowledge of seed to sale tracking systems such as METRC, MJ Freeway, Leaf Logix
  • Knowledge of math, weights, and quantities
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Accurate data-entry and recordkeeping skills
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays, if needed
  • Excellent computer skills, specifically with Microsoft Office and Windows-based applications
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
