The Stanton County Sheriff's Office is looking to hire a full time dispatcher. Starting wage is $15 an hour with no experience. Pay is negotiable with prior dispatch experience. Full benefits and retirement plan. Must have a high school diploma or GED. No felony convictions and must pass a drug and alcohol screening. 12-hr shifts with a 7 days on, 7 days off schedule, day/night shifts. Paid leave for maternity/paternity, vacation, and funerals.

Responsibilities:
- Receive and prioritize emergency and non-emergency calls from the public and field personnel
- Gather accurate information from callers to determine the nature and urgency of the situation
- Dispatch appropriate personnel, such as law enforcement, medical services, or other emergency responders, to the scene
- Monitor and track the status of ongoing incidents using computer-aided dispatch (CAD) systems
- Provide clear and concise instructions to field units regarding incident response and resource allocation
- Maintain accurate records of all calls, incidents, and actions taken during a shift
- Collaborate with other dispatchers and agencies to coordinate multi-agency responses
- Utilize mapping software and GPS technology to assist in locating callers or incidents
- Analyze situations and make quick decisions to ensure the safety of both responders and the public
- Provide support and guidance to callers in emergency situations until help arrives
Requirements:
- Proficient in using phone systems, including multi-line phone systems
- Knowledge of law enforcement procedures and protocols is a plus
- Familiarity with medical terminology is beneficial
- Strong data entry skills with attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent conflict management skills to handle high-stress situations calmly and professionally
- Ability to analyze information quickly and make sound decisions under pressure
