What are the responsibilities and job description for the LPN $20/hour, Day Shift position at STAR Community Justice Center?
Position Summary:
The Licensed Practical Nurse provides care and preventive medicine for the STAR residents. They maintain medical records, intake appraisal and assist the medical provider as needed.
General Responsibilities:
- Know and adhere to STAR’s policies and procedures
- Coordinate with all other departments as needed
- Coordinate with Nurse Manager for all projects and medical needs
- Ensure compliance with all requirements associated with services, such as TB testing, medical assessments, and pharmacy orders
- Inspect equipment to ensure functionality
- Assist the medical provider with resident and staff medical care
- Ensure the department continuous compliance with all ACA, PREA, and departmental CBCF and BCS standards
- Ensure that all resident medications are provided in a timely manner and are verified for correct dosage and amount
- Review resident MAR to ensure compliance with medical orders
- Conduct periodic walkthrough of the facility to ensure compliance and cleanliness of managed areas.
- Provide guidance and corrective actions to STAR residents as needed
- Maintain relationships with vendors, inspectors, and outside entities
- Ensure compliance with Ohio Board of Nursing Requirements
Performance Evaluation:
Staff holding this position will be evaluated on the following intervals of employment: 90th day, 6 month, 1 year, and annually thereafter. The following domains will be assessed:

Qualifications and Skills:
- Certification/Degree required
- Experience preferred
- Valid driver’s license
