StarCare Specialty Health System (StarCare) is seeking a full time Payroll/Accounts Payable Accountant to join its outstanding Accounting Team!
The Payroll/Accounts Payable Accountant performs the accounts payable function and assists with payroll duties for the company under the supervision of the Accounts Payable/Payroll Supervisor. This position works under moderate supervision, with some latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
Accounts Payable Responsibilities:
- Performs the accounts payable functions for StarCare.
- Process and generate accounts payable payments for company-wide purchases and expenses.
- Allocate billing expenses to appropriate billing/reporting unit.
- Maintain electronic accounts payable files.
- Monitor and reconcile accounts to ensure payments are up to date and accounts are maintained in accordance with accepted accounting practices.
- Create, manage and maintain electronic vendor files to streamline electronic funds transfer process.
- Correspond via phone, letter, or email with vendors and respond to questions.
- Generate annual 1099s for vendors.
- Complete all required documentation and assist the supervisor and other company staff with special projects or assignments.
- Duties will include processing checks, electronic payments, and providing backup for the IDD and MH Trust Funds.
- Position requires exceptional organizational and time management skills, detail oriented and accuracy in work performance, and ability to maintain confidential information.
Payroll Responsibilities:
- Prepare and submit payroll to the bank according to the established schedule to maintain up-to-date knowledge of payroll processes.
- Assists with the review of payroll reports prior to submission to check for accuracy.
- Prepares and/or processes payroll general journal entries.
- Reconciles all payroll liability accounts in the company general ledger.
- Reconciles all payroll liability invoices prior to submission for payment.
- May prepare special reports as requested. Performs related work as assigned.
Schedule: This is a full-time/non-exempt position scheduled Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm, with flexibility to meet the needs of the department.

Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree with major coursework in accounting, finance, or a related field is generally preferred.
- 2-4 years of accounts payable experience.
- Experience and education may be substituted for one another.
Skills & Abilities:
- Familiarity with accounting and financial operations.
- Knowledge of basic accounting principles.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
- High degree of attention to detail.
- Skill in the use of office equipment, computers, and associated software applications.
Additional Requirements:
- Must pass pre-hire criminal background check and drug screen.
- Must have a current Texas driver's license and be insurable under the organization's insurance.
