Starfish Space is an exciting and fast-growing space startup in Seattle, Washington founded by former Blue Origin and NASA engineers. We are giving life to on-orbit services with our Otter Space Tug and satellite servicing technologies. In 2021, we raised a $7M seed round, won a $1.7M award through the Space Force’s Pitch Day competition, and launched our CEPHALOPOD software into space for on-orbit testing. We are making exciting technological and commercial progress in 2022 and growing our team rapidly.

Position Description

Satellite servicing missions require spacecraft capable of autonomous, robotic operations in orbit. To fulfill our mission, Starfish is developing the Otter space tug with various core software technologies to conduct relative navigation and to execute autonomous guidance and control. Much of these software products are developed and tested in simulation environments, and we are looking to hire a software engineer to support this work. This position will build space environment simulation software and infrastructure to support the development of autonomous space systems. This role will involve everything ranging from building cloud infrastructure, to automating simulation analysis, to integrating with satellite compute hardware.

Qualifications

  • Must be a US person (citizen or permanent resident)
  • Willing to work from Tukwila, Washington
  • Software development education or experience
  • Capable of working in a dynamic, fast-paced startup environment

Desired Experience

  • B.S. degree or equivalent in Aerospace Engineering or similar field
  • Working knowledge of Python and C
  • Previous experience with numerical simulations

ITAR Requirements

To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.

Salary : $70,000 - $120,000
