The Bilingual Home Visitor provides comprehensive case management services to enhance the physical, social, emotional, and intellectual development of participating children and families in Head Start/Early Head Start home-based program. Arrange and provide a variety of educational experiences for parents and children to reduce isolation, integrating them into the larger community, expanding social networks and improving parenting skills. Ensures compliance with Head Start/Early Head Start guidelines and regulations
The Bilingual Home visitor will report to the the Bilingual Home Base Supervisor you will:
The Bilingual Home Visitor role requires planning and implementing developmentally appropriate activities for children in the home, collaborating with parents to develop weekly activity plans based on assessments and family needs. The position requires traveling throughout Chicago to reach diverse families, assisting in the development of program components, and maintaining confidential family files. Observing and documenting each childs health, skills, behavior, growth, and development is essential, as well as developing individualized educational plans with parent input. The role includes conducting weekly home visits, facilitating parent-child engagement, and working collaboratively with a peer team to provide group socialization experiences. As an advocate for Head Start families, the position also involves case management, screenings, training, and participating in various staff meetings. The employee will integrate different program components into home visits, assist with family recruitment and enrollment, ensure food supplies are adequate, make referrals to services, and support the identification of children with special needs. Additionally, the position encourages parent involvement and assists in organizing socialization events and parent meetings. This role requires travel and participation in ongoing trainings and development.
Qualifications:
- Associates degree in Social Work, Child Development or a related field required. Bachelors degree in Social Work, Child Development or a related field preferred.
- A Home Visitor CDA is required at hire or w/in 1 year of hire.
- Bilingual Spanish Required (Must be able to read, write, and speak Spanish proficiently)
- Minimum of one to three years of experience working in early childhood/family support or home visiting program.
- Knowledgeable of theories and principles of healthy child growth and development.
- Experience in creating comprehensive developmental activities for parents and children, program development, and assessing the quality of services.
- Working knowledge of community resources, family welfare, and government assistance programs.
- Communicate effectively and function well with families, children, staff and various professional community groups.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to establish supportive, meaningful relationships with pregnant women, families and their infants.
- Knowledge of principles and practices of infant and child development and family practice.
- Ability to use reflective supervision.
- Ability to work within a team.
- Knowledge of community resources and the capacity to develop community cooperation to ensure that pregnant women receive comprehensive services.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Basic knowledge of the computer software and functions commonly used in general business settings.
Salary: As of the time of this posting, the expected base annual salary range for this position is $51,825K - 56,000K. The base annual salary will be based on a wide range of factors, including skills, qualifications, experience, as well as business needs and limitations.
