EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
This position exists to provide professional human resources services to History Colorado. This position is involved in a variety of ongoing human resource activities and functions requiring training and experience in benefits administration, FMLA and leave management, employee relations, recruitment and retention strategies, compensation, diversity and inclusion, records and data management, and employee communications.Recruiting & OnboardingConsulting with hiring managers on recruitment needs for vacanciesProviding guidance and templates so hiring managers can develop job announcementsReviewing all job descriptions for legal compliance and clarity, including review of appropriate minimum qualificationsInputting job announcements into posting systemServing as contact for job applicants inquiring about statusSending status updates to job applicants through the job posting system Assisting in initial screening of job applications as neededPerforming onboarding with new employees, including sharing benefits information, organizational vision and values, and other necessary information.Benefits AdministrationProcessing new hire paperwork for all benefit programs and trouble-shooting any issues in a responsive and timeline mannerConsulting with employees on benefits options, changes, and documentation requirementsFollowing up on documentation submissionsAssisting with communicating open enrollment information to employeesManaging all paperwork for Family Medical Leave (FML) and ensuring deadlines and requirements are met; tracking FML hours of each FML designated employee and maintaining confidential FML filesCoordinating Short-Term Disability benefits with employees and insurance carriers including consulting with employees on benefits, providing information and claim forms, and submitting employer information to insurance providerReporting and tracking workers’ compensation cases, conducting internal investigation for reporting purposes, providing information to health care providers and workers’ compensation carrier, and maintaining up-to-date knowledge of workers’ compensation laws and procedures. Human Resources Training and TrackingCreate personnel files for new employees; update personnel files as needed. Maintain records according to records retention schedule.Collect and organize data from employee surveys, including new employee surveys, exit surveys, and exit interviews. Work with department heads to identify trends and summary reports to Executive Leadership.Create and maintain databases of employee information in order to establish metrics that can be reported and tracked.Maintaining up-to-date job descriptions for all positionsRevising position descriptions when necessaryMaintaining data related to the STEPS program for state employees, and relevant compensation data and benchmarkingEnsure current FLSA designation of every position by designating or working with department headAssist in the update and revision of evaluation and performance plan systemsHuman Resources Process ImprovementsRecommend process changes and improvements to streamline and upgrade human resources functions such as onboarding, record keeping and communication. Reviewing and updating HR forms that are out of date, including review of whether forms are in compliance with state and federal lawDigitizing forms and processesMaintaining new employee survey forms and data, as well as exit survey dataRegularly update HR procedures, manuals, and tools in concert with the department headEnsuring all updates and tools are up-to-date on the internal staff Intranet
