YOUR SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position coordinates the commercial plan review process for establishments located in Orange County served by onsite sewage treatment and disposal systems (OSTDS) and /or establishments regulated by this agency. Duties include but are not limited to the review and coordination of commercial establishments and residential buildings served by an OSTDS to ensure compliance with Chapter 62-6 Florida Administration Code (F.A.C.) and Chapter 381 Florida Statutes (FS). This position conducts existing system review and verifications for establishments regulated by this office. Maintains a working knowledge of the applicable codes and regulations for appropriate programs. Attends Developmental Review Committee (DRC) meetings for Orange County as required. Acts as liaison with OCHD legal staff and assists in coordinating OSTDS enforcement actions for commercial projects.
Performs other duties of the OSTDS program to include conducting site evaluations, plan review, permitting, inspections, re-inspections and violation enforcement of onsite sewage treatment and disposal systems to ensure compliance with Chapter 62-6 of the Florida Administrative Code (F.A.C.), Chapter 381 site evaluations must also comply with State Health Office memos 05-014 and 06-003. Prepares written correspondence, consults with professional engineers, contractors, installers, clients and the general public in applicable matters. As required, maintains contact and coordination of activities with other concerned agencies such as the Department of Environmental Protection or Orange County Environmental Protection Department, etc.
Responsible for logging, reviewing, and processing variance applications for commercial and residential projects prior to administrative review, tracks application status and outcome. Assist in the review of work products completed in the septic program to ensure compliance and consistency with Chapter 62-6, Florida Administrative Code, Chapter 381 Florida Statutes and DOH 150-4. Assists clients at the window. Acts as liaison with OCHD legal staff and assists in coordinating OSTDS enforcement actions for commercial projects.
Complete and return all paperwork pertaining to job duties legibly and in proper order. This would also include timely submittal of timesheets, mileage, and EARS.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Current Florida Department of Health employee
- Must be currently certified in the OSTDS program and/or have a current registration as an RS/REHS in the State of Florida
- A valid FL driver’s license OR a valid driver’s license from another state (will be required to get a FL driver license within 30 days of hire).
- Access to transportation in lieu of a county vechicle for site visits
- Must have at least six months of documented, verifiable experience conducting OSTDS/ Septic program inspections and site evaluations for the Florida Department of Health.
- Experience with site evaluations, compliance inspections, and residential and commercial permit/plan review
- Must be able to kneel, bend, lift and carry 50 pounds, maneuver different types of terrain, and use fine motor skills to obtain soil, water and other samples.
