CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- New employees of the Department of Military Affairs will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening.
- New employees of the Department of Military Affairs are required to participate in a direct deposit/electronic transfer program.
- The Department of Military Affairs is paid on a monthly basis.
- This position is a Cooperative Agreement position.
- As a CANDIDATE, you are required to provide documentation (i.e., High School Diploma or Equivalency, College Transcripts, ETC.) to verify meeting these Minimum Qualifications.
- Must be able to obtain a completion of a favorable National Agency Check background investigation clearance.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- A High School Diploma AND
- Two (2) years of experience in Plumbing or related field
- Must be able to obtain a backflow certification for testing and repairing backflows
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
- Currently possesses a backflow certification for testing and repairing backflows
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to bend, squat, climb, kneel, twist, grasp, push, and pull.
- Must have manual dexterity with hands and fingers.
- Ability to lift a minimum of 50lbs. or more.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Install maintain, repair, and replace main water distribution lines and main sewer lines, cut off valves, and fire hydrants.
- Install maintain, test, and repair backflows to buildings.
- Installation and repairs of LP Gas appliances.
- Complies with Hazardous Waste Management Rules and Regulations.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of the procedures and methods for installing, repairing, and maintaining plumbing and heating fixtures and accessories.
- Skill in using pipe cutters, reamers, threading machines and other specialized tools and equipment.
- Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
- Skilled in operation of backhoe.
- Knowledge of the principles and techniques of the skilled building trades or mechanical repair work.
- Knowledge of safety procedures required in maintenance and repair work.
- Skill in using tools and equipment in maintenance and repair work.
- Ability to perform a variety of skilled trades functions.
- Ability to read blueprints. Ability to take accurate measurements.
- Ability to follow instructions.
