This recruitment is being conducted under the Operation Hire Hawaii (OH-HI) project, a targeted outreach initiative featuring an expedited hiring process, fast-tracking qualified applicants into job opportunities throughout Hawai’i.

Salary - $4,858 to $5,918 per month (SR-20, Step D to I)

Note: Hiring rates will be based on availability of funds, the applicant's qualifications, and other relevant factors.

The notice of the last day to file applications will be posted on the State of Hawaii's Civil Service Job Opportunities Listing page of our website.The Veterans Services Counselor III Operates a comprehensive island-wide assistance program providing information, counsel, advice and assistance to veterans, their families and dependents and to servicemen concerning services, assistance, or benefits to which they are entitled by law or otherwise, also directs and refers them to appropriate agencies for services, assistance and benefits; and performs other duties as required.To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements:

Legal Authorization to Work:
The State of Hawaii requires all persons seeking employment with the government of the State shall be citizens, nationals, or permanent resident aliens of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States.

Education: A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

General Experience: One year of progressively responsible professional experience as an employment counselor, rehabilitation specialist, social worker, or other professional work experience assisting others with resolving their vocational, health, social, or other personal problems. Such experience must have provided knowledge of interviewing techniques, community resources and local agencies, groups and organizations providing services or benefits to the community it serves; and must have included providing services to veterans.

Specialized Experience: one year of progressively responsible professional work experience providing services to veterans and their beneficiaries which included the explanation, application, and interpretation of laws related to veterans benefits administered by the State of Hawaii, or the Veteran's Administration; and providing information on available State and/or federal benefits.

Driver's License: Applicants must possess a valid driver's license at the time of appointment.
