The mission of the Idaho Industrial Commission is to fairly administer the Idaho Workers' Compensation Law

The Benefits Analysts are responsible for auditing and analyzing workers' compensation claims and settlements to ensure that workers' compensation benefits are paid in accordance with the Idaho Workers' Compensation Law; assist parties with dispute resolution; conduct individual claim audits; provide training to constituent groups throughout the state; and provide technical assistance to parties involved in workers' compensation claims.
  • Discusses claims and answers inquiries from in-state constituents and explains the requirements of applicable statutes and regulations.
  •  Mails forms and related Worker’s compensation materials to requesting parties.
  • Reviews and analyzes lump sum settlements, related medical records, and attorney fee documentation and makes recommendations to the Commissioners regarding approval.
  • Calculates benefits rates and payments and ensures benefits are paid appropriately.
  • Develops and delivers informational presentations to worker’s compensation stakeholders.
  • Facilitates the statewide workers' compensation certification training course.
  • As requested by the Worker’s Compensation Program Analysts, or the Benefits Administration Manager, determines and prioritizes audit schedules and contacts sureties to provide a list of claims files for review, and prepares follow-up documentation in response to surety and/or self-insured objections.  
  • Questions sureties informally and in writing on operating procedures and reviews files for compliance with Idaho Statutes and Rules.
  • Knowledge of insurance, legal, and medical terminology relating to worker’s compensation or other medical claims
  •  Experience in problem solving and dispute resolution
  •  Experience resolving conflicts and maintaining effective working relationships
  •  Experience interpreting, explaining, and applying laws, regulations, and complex policies
  • Experience in positions that require accuracy, attention to detail and good time management skills
  • Experience conducting group training
  • Some positions may require supervisory experience
Desirable
  • Four-year college degree or equivalent work experience in related field
  • Good working knowledge of Idaho Workers' Compensation Laws (certification as an Idaho Worker’s Compensation Specialist preferred)
  • Some mediation experience
  • Some experience analyzing information and researching a variety of sources to identify and resolve problems or issues
  •  Computer literacy (experience with MS Office preferred)
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills


SPECIAL NOTIFICATION:  This non-classified position is exempt from classified state service and the rules of the Division of Human Resources and the Idaho Personnel Commission.
