Staff Attorney 15
This position is assigned to the Complex Litigation section of the Corrections Division and handles the defense of civil rights cases filed against the Michigan Department of Corrections, its agencies, boards, commissions, officers and employees including representation in state and federal courts and administrative tribunals.
Position Description
Senior Attorney 16
As a Senior Attorney, this position handles the more complex legal assignments and cases involving federal prisoner litigation, constitutional litigation, and other assigned issues and matters. The incumbent handles these complex assignments under the general supervision of the Division Chief, the First Assistant, or Section Head. The incumbent provides day to day legal representation to the Michigan Department of Corrections and other various state agencies, boards, commissions, officers and employees including representation in the more complex state and federal cases and provides legal advice in other non-litigation matters.
Position Description
Education
Possession of a Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited school of law.
Experience
Attorney-Staff P15
No specific type or amount is required.
Attorney-Senior 16
Four years of post-bar admission legal experience.
Special Requirements, Licenses, and Certifications
Membership in good standing in the Michigan State Bar
