Job Summary
This position will provide administrative and technical payroll support for the Department of Military Affairs (DMA). Provide professional payroll services, such as completion and validation of payroll, and ensuring all payroll documentation is complete for each payroll period. This position maintains audit and approval responsibilities to ensure payroll is processed according to appropriate statutes, labor agreements/plans, salary plans and administrative procedures. This position provides quality advice, assistance, and service regarding all payroll areas to mangers, supervisors, and employees in the various functional areas of the DMA.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Experience with Microsoft products such as Excel, Word, and Outlook.
Mathematics skills sufficient to reconcile data and balance accounts.
Customer Service sufficient to provide prompt, courteous and accurate information to customers in person, on the phone, and through email and other written correspondence.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Knowledge of English sufficient to fluently speak, read, understand, and respond to a variety of written and spoken communications.
Ability to work independently while knowing when management consultation is needed.
Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and ability to meet strict deadlines.
Ability to maintain a consistent, high quality, customer-focused orientation.
Occasionally lifting and/or carrying such articles as file folders. Although a sedentary job is defined as one which involves sitting, a certain amount of walking and standing is often necessary in carrying out job duties.
Must successfully pass a background check.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with SEMA4 and SWIFT.
Proficient in Microsoft Office products such as MS Excel and MS Word.
Knowledge in labor agreements and salary plans.
Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with DMA employees and management.
