This is a full –time, day shift position. The hours of work are generally 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., but may vary depending on the needs of the program.
Minnesota State Operated Community Services (MSOCS) is seeking a dedicated human services professional to supervise and lead direct care staff employed in a MSOCS residential home for individuals with intellectual disabilities, mental health diagnosis and/or brain injury. The Community Residential Supervisor will develop, implement, and evaluate residential services programs. This position will supervise 1 or more homes in the Moorhead, Minnesota area.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise staff so that employees effectively perform assigned job duties and achieve the objectives of the program/unit/section/division.
- Administer the fiscal resources of a MSOCS home and individuals to ensure that expenditures are made in a prudent manner and are in compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Develop, implement and evaluate a MSOCS residential services program so that individuals’ needs are met and individuals are effectively integrated into the community.
- Provide direct care services to MSOCS residential individuals to ensure that the residential program is in compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Implement administrative duties so that individuals receive the necessary services in a safe, healthy and attractive residential environment.
- Develop positive relationships with the local community.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Supervisory, lead worker, or other leadership experience OR completion of leadership development program (L4, Emerging Leaders Institute, etc.)
Must meet the qualifications to be a Designated Coordinator:
- Bachelor’s degree in a field related to human services, and one year of full-time work experience providing direct care services to persons with disabilities or persons age 65 and older; OR
- Associate’s degree in a field related to human services, and two years of full-time work experience providing direct care services to persons with disabilities or persons age 65 and older; OR
- A diploma in a field related to human services from an accredited postsecondary institution and three years of full-time work experience providing direct care services to persons with disabilities or persons age 65 and older; OR
- A minimum of 50 hours of education and training related to human services and disabilities; and four years of full-time work experience providing direct care services to persons with disabilities or persons age 65 or older under the supervision of a staff person who meets the qualifications in one of the categories above.
Candidates must also minimally meet these required qualifications:
- Must have a valid Driver’s License
- Ability to provide leadership by motivating, communicating, and engaging a diverse work group.
- Ability to work rotating or irregular hours as needed, or directed, to complete on-site supervisory responsibilities. Ability to provide direct care as needed.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills sufficient to analyze and evaluate complex situations, resolve conflicts and provide guidance to direct reports, and individuals receiving services.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Communication skills sufficient to explain sensitive, controversial and confidential information to direct reports, individuals receiving services, labor and other partners in a clear and concise manner, while adhering to data privacy laws and requirements.
- Ability to interpret financial statements, taking corrective actions, education and managing budget to ensure profitability.
Preferred Qualifications

- A minimum of three (3) years of Supervisory-level experience in a program providing direct support services or vocational services to individuals with disabilities or who are at least 65 years old.
- Multi-site supervisory/management experience.
- Understanding of behavior analysis.
Experience:
- Leading trainings on topics related to care for adults with disabilities.
- Working with individuals with active symptoms of a psychiatric diagnosis.
- Working with computer-based programs.
- Planning service initiatives with county case managers and other providers.
- Working with individuals with higher-level behavioral issues.
