Job Summary
Job Responsibilities:
This position exists to manage projects, requests, programs, and portfolios with a standardized and foundational process at an advanced professional level from initialization, planning, execution, monitoring, and analytics through closure.
Projects and initiatives under the purview of this position may range from small programs and projects to strategic and highly complex strategic plan initiatives. These projects and initiatives often require integration or interface with university systems, Minnesota State systems, industry partners, workforce development centers, and secondary educational organizations, including instructors/faculty, staff, and students. Projects will require understanding the Center of Excellence and Minnesota State business practices, organizational culture, and an awareness of services and solutions. This position will have responsibility for leading strategic and Center projects by establishing project scope, requirements, plan, timeline, and communication, as well as providing leadership in managing stakeholder expectations, risks, fiscal responsibility, and timely project completion. Business and process analysis skills and experience are critical to the success of this role.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
The following qualifications are required of all applicants seeking consideration for this position. Only applicants whose resumes clearly demonstrate fulfillment of each of these minimum qualifications will be considered for the position:
- Bachelor’s degree and three years of project management experience, including requirements gathering, analysis, documentation, testing, training, implementation, and process improvement.
- Experience creating and supporting an environment conducive to building relationships, collaborative decision-making, consensus, and conflict resolution.
- Experience configuring and using project and portfolio management software and systems that allow stakeholders and project team members to understand the project's direction.
- Experience analyzing and evaluating operational processes and demonstrated ability to document and implement new/revised and improved policies, procedures, and processes, including experience with Microsoft Office applications and process documentation software (example: Microsoft Visio, CANVA, or Other) to create detailed process maps.
- Related work experience demonstrating organization, effective communication, time management, analytical, and reasoning abilities with attention to detail.
- Experience in the workforce
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience coordinating multiple projects simultaneously with various project types (function-specific, cross-functional, technical) and sizes (small to enterprise-wide), as well as experience driving project teams to successful, quality project completion.
- Related work experience demonstrating effective written and oral communication skills, including the ability to document, present and train with a focus on human relations and customer service.
- Master’s degree in Education, Business Management, Business Development, or IT Strategic Development and 5 years of experience
- Experience in workforce technical training
- Experience in K-12 curriculum development and training
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification and other project management certifications achieved or must be able to achieve within 6 months of hire
Physical Requirements
Light: Requires occasionally transporting such articles as file boxes and heavy hand tools or heavier materials with help from others and/or transporting light objects frequently. The position may require movement throughout the building(s) to a significant degree.
Additional Requirements
In accordance with the Minnesota State Vehicle Fleet Safety Program, employees driving on college/university business who use a rental or state vehicle shall be required to conform to Minnesota State's vehicle use criteria and consent to a Motor Vehicle Records check.
