Job Summary

This position is located in Burnsville, MN.

The Workforce Development Representative position exists to provide Career Services and CareerForce information to job seekers through orientations, group instruction, and one-on-one assistance with a priority on serving Unemployment Insurance Applicants through re-employment calling and follow up assistance.

A successful candidate will be required to:

  • Periodically staff the Career Lab / Information Desk as assigned during the work week.
  • Conduct calls to Unemployment Insurance applicants to inform them of CareerForce services and offer career guidance.
  • Conduct calls to Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program recipients to inform them of CareerForce services and offer career guidance.

The purpose of this position is to:

  • Provide Basic Career Services and CareerForce information to job seekers through one-on-one appointments and group instruction (with a priority on serving Unemployment Insurance Applicants).
  • Assist job seekers in making informed career choices.
  • Conduct outreach activities to increase awareness of all programs and services available from the CareerForce System.
  • Provide career guidance and resources to job seekers in the service delivery area.
  • Provide training on how to seek employment through Job Search classes, Resume Writing classes, and other employment-related workshops.
  • Inform job seekers of technical resources to ensure they have access to tools to assist in securing appropriate employment.
  • Assist businesses in accessing available services through CareerForce.
  • Inform businesses of technical resources to ensure they have access to tools and information to successfully recruit and retain employees.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

To receive credit for your education and experience, your resume should clearly describe how you meet each minimum and preferred qualification listed, including dates of employment.

Bachelor's degree in Education, Social Work, Human Services, Counseling, or other closely related field as determined by the agency.

OR

One (1) year of experience in a role providing employment and training services, case management, or a similar role as determined by the agency.

Applicants that meet the above minimum qualification will be further evaluated on the following:

Skill in:

  • Development and presentation of workshops for adult career seekers, to be offered virtual and in person.
  • Organization to manage, track, and report expenses, financial transactions using Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, and Excel to track expenses.

Communication skills to:

  • Connect career seekers to work force training opportunities to advance skills.

Ability to:

  • Form and grow connections with community partners such as educational institutions, employers, and supportive services to assist career seekers in gaining employment.
  • Adapt to changing work priorities and goals.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Education, Social Work, Human Services, Counseling, or other closely related field as determined by the agency AND one (1) year of related work experience.

Experience:

  • Using WorkForce One, CareerForceMN.com, Minnesotaworks.net, SharePoint, Microsoft Teams and WebEx.
  • Providing career guidance and coaching.

Skill communicating in a secondary language.
