Communications Specialist – Social Media
Location: Office of Communications & Outreach, Central Office – Jefferson City, MO
Travel: Approximately 10% (statewide)
Salary: $36,000 – $38,000

Main Purpose/Focus of Postion: This position will be responsible for creating content to support and promote department initiatives and raise awareness of postsecondary education options available to Missourians.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Creates highly engaging content for the department’s social media accounts.
- Monitors social media accounts, respond to comments, track analytics, and provide analyses.
- Writes clear, attractive messages with a distinct voice that represents the department.
- Collaborates with communications team on public awareness communication campaigns.
- Assists in creating content calendars for social media accounts.
- Collects, prepares, interprets, and communicates informational material to support and/or promote department programs, initiatives, and services to internal and external audiences.
- Composes and edits text; produces graphic, video and photographic illustrations for distribution to the general public.
- Assists in coordinating special events and develops materials, displays, photos, and videos to promote the department’s programs, initiatives, and services.
- Perform other related work as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a minimum of 15 earned credit hours in one or a combination of the following: Social Media Marketing, Journalism, Communications, English, Public Relations, Advertising, Marketing, or a closely related field; and,
One or more years of professional experience in public relations, advertising, marketing, film/video production, or journalism.
(24 earned graduate credit hours from an accredited college or university in the specified areas may substitute for a maximum of one year of the stated experience.)
(Additional qualifying experience may substitute on a year-for-year basis for deficiencies in the required education.)
