What you’ll do:

This position will assist the offender population with helping them prepare from employment prior to their release from prison by providing employment counseling, employment placement and employment programming.

Serves as a part of the DORS team at the institutions while working closely with the classification team, institutional parole officers and the Reentry/Educational Services Division

Facilitate programs and classes that assist with building employability skills

Collaborates with state agencies, community partners and employers to provide employment and support services to the offenders.

Assist the offenders with assessments and aptitude tests to determine barriers to employment and establish career paths

Administer in person and virtual job fairs by ensuring offenders have a resume and video resume

This will also assist with services in the Reentry Center.

This position may be required to work alternative hours to include one evening a week and/or one weekend day a month to ensure all clients have access to services but will not exceed 40 hours a week.

All you need for success:

Minimum Qualifications:

Four or more years of technical or professional experience in social services, education, workforce development, probation and parole casework, corrections casework or custody (at the level of Correctional Lieutenant or above), guidance and counseling, mental health, health, substance abuse, law enforcement, public or business administration, or a closely related area. A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is preferred, but not required.

(Earned credit hours from an accredited college or university may substitute on a year-for-year basis for the listed experience at a rate of 30 earned credit hours for one year)
