The Department of Corrections is the only State agency that currently offers a guaranteed 1% pay increase for every two years of service up to 20 years.
What you’ll do:
Setting an example to staff by creating a positive work culture through intentional leadership and creating a cohesive team environment.
Demonstrating cultural competency and trauma informed care practices to support diverse staff populations.
Providing direct care/guidance to staff for personal and occupational health issues.
Complying with federal and state laws related to mandated reporting and protected health information
Training staff in department-wide education programs.
Ensuring the preparation and maintenance of nursing reports and records.
This position requires minimal travel
All you need for success:
Comprehensive knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, and standards.
Comprehensive knowledge of management principles and techniques as applied to nursing administration.
Comprehensive knowledge of pharmacology, therapeutic diets and nutrition, aseptic techniques, and other basic natural and social sciences necessary to provide professional nursing care.
Ability to evaluate quality of nursing care provided.
Ability to assess clinical nursing education needs.
Ability to maintain clinical and administrative records and prepare related reports.
Ability to establish and maintain effective/appropriate working relationships with staff, offenders, and their family members.
Minimum Qualifications:
Master's Degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university AND one or more years of professional experience as a Registered Nurse.
OR
A Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university AND two or more years of processional experience as a Registered Nurse.
OR
An Associate's Degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university or a Diploma in Nursing AND three or more years of professional experience as a Registered Nurse.
- Possession of a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Missouri or in accordance with Missouri's Nurse Licensure Compact at the time of appointment.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with psychosocial rehabilitation and group facilitation
Prior experience in a forensic, corrections, law enforcement or equivalent setting.
