The Supreme Court of Ohio is seeking to fill the position of Court Security Officer in the Office of Court Security. Under the direction of the Court Security Manager, the Court Security Officer will perform building security/safety duties and operate building security systems.

A day for a Court Security Officer may start with operating security screening equipment in the morning, utilize building access control and camera systems, and then walk the building, grounds, and stairs to ensure the safety of the Thomas J. Moyer Judicial Center. Throughout the day, a Court Security Officer is expected to build relationships with the staff and visitors to the Court.

The ideal candidate for this position has two years of security, military, or law enforcement experience, is capable and comfortable carrying a firearm, possesses a valid Ohio driver’s license, and has excellent customer service and communication skills. Experience or certification in first aid, firearms, or the proper use of metal detectors and x-ray equipment will be considered a plus.

Summary of Duties:

• Ensure safety and security of building, staff, and guests
• Operate and monitor building access control and camera systems
• Walk interior and exterior grounds/stairwells
• Work with a variety of people including judges, lawyers, visitors, highway patrol, and Court staff
• Complete security screenings
• Follow Court policies and complete appropriate documentation

• Special Requirements: The Court Security Officer is authorized to carry a TASER and/or firearm at all times while on duty and is required to maintain TASER and firearms training as approved by the Ohio Peace Officer Training Commission. This position is regularly exposed to sensitive information and the incumbent is expected to keep such information strictly confidential.

This is a non-exempt unclassified position, reporting to the Court Security Manager. This position is not eligible for telework.

The starting salary range, which is commensurate with experience, is $45,011.20 - $50,627.20
