Join our team at Eastern State Hospital as a Psychology Associate providing competency restoration classes to people who have been admitted and found not competent for trial by the courts. You will provide evidence-based psychotherapy and psychoeducation and administer psychological testing as needed under the supervision of the ward psychologist. Although temporary, these opportunities are expected to last 12 months, with a possibility of extension.
Some of what you will do
Provide diagnostic assessment of those admitted for restoration in order to assess cognitive and social functioning, as well as suitability for group participation- In consultation with the ward psychologist, collaborate with the interdisciplinary treatment team regarding the competency status of patients
- Adhere to program curriculum while tailoring each group to the specific needs of patients
- Meet with patients individually to review group curriculum which may not be appropriate in a group setting
- Provide timely clinical documentation
- May provide expert witness testimony
Those with a graduate degree (Masters/Doctorate) in Psychology should apply
Preferred knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- Experience working in a medical or behavioral health-related field
- Clinical experience in corrections, forensic psychology, residential inpatient care
- Experience facilitating psychoeducational groups and/or group psychotherapy
- Experience conducting psychological assessments
