What are the responsibilities and job description for the Head Brewer position at Stateline Brewery?
We are seeking a new Head Brewer to completely oversee the entire Brewery Program at Stateline Brewery in South Lake Tahoe. Our current brewer (who is transitioning out of this position) has upgraded our program and has established significant upward momentum, overall quality increases, and unique and artistic developments. We now maintain a minimum of an 8 unique beer tap list, extensive barrel-aging program, a full-scale production and keg program, and a canning program. It is very important to us for our new prospective head brewer to continue to maintain the momentum we have established in the last 2 years and to bring innovation and artistic integrity to the table so we may continue to develop and grow the overall program.
We are seeking an extremely passionate, dedicated, loyal, hard working, artistic, and brewing experienced individual to take over the Head Brewer position. We are requiring prior brewing experience, in some capacity, to qualify for this position. Extensive all-grain home-brewing experience with notable beer making education and knowledge of fermentation, hops, grains, malts, yeast, different beer styles, and etc., is the minimum requirement, while commercial brewing experience is even better.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, managing all brew staff (brewer’s assistants), developing and executing all beer recipes, all beer production, all equipment cleaning and maintenance, ordering and managing all inventory of brewing ingredients and supplies, inventory and record keeping for all manufactured products and all brewing ingredients and supplies, maintaining the keg program and canning program, maintaining and continuing to develop the barrel-aging program, ensuring that we are well stocked on a variety of beer styles, providing tours to guests, educating guests, educating and training our front of house restaurant staff for sales purposes, engaging with local community and being involved in local brew events, and maintaining the overall high quality of the beer and all current upward momentum.
This position will be required to work closely with and collaborate with the bar and bar manager to ensure that the products we sell are well stocked and made in a timely manner, adhering to a structured brewing schedule to do so.
Compensation to be determined based on skills, experience, and education.
