SHOP DRIVER AND SHEET METAL LABORER – FABRICATION SHOP
Pickup materials from suppliers and deliver to shop and/or jobsite. Perform entry level fabrication, assembly, alteration, and repair of sheet metal products and equipment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (include but are not limited to)
- Assist with fabrication, assembly, alteration, and repair of sheet metal products and equipment (e.g., ductwork and hoods for HVAC systems).
- Assist with gathering material required for performance of work.
- Assist with set-up and operation of equipment including but not limited to: plasma cutters, ductwork fabrication machines, sheet metal shears, notchers, sheet metal brakes, rollers, roll-forming machines, cleat benders, punches, pinspotters, insulation cutters, insulation adhesive sprayers, saws, hand tools, and drill presses to cut, form, punch, seal, and assemble sheet metal. Use of forklift and tow straps.
- Perform quality work with a high degree of attention to detail in order to meet or exceed quality expectations.
- Accurately follow direction and technical guidance given by mentors and supervisors.
- Ability to understand, communicate, and follow safety requirements as posted and directed by supervisors.
- Lift and/or maneuver items as required.
- Participate in team activities to contribute toward continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Ability to handle stress and job demands.
- Cooperatively work with others.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED
- Entry level experience required – less than 2 years of experience in sheet metal fabrication.
- Forklift Certification (Preferred)
Skills and Abilities:
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Must be detail oriented and able to follow directions easily.
- Must be able to safely lift and/or maneuver items as required.
- Must be willing and able to gain a working knowledge of sheet metal products and equipment.
- Ability to work as an integral part of a team.
Physical Demands/Working Conditions:

Individuals may be exposed to varying temperatures from very hot (above 90 degrees F) to very cold (below 32 degrees F). However, the shop and delivery vehicles are climate controlled. Performing this job requires the ability to frequently handle, control, or manipulate objects, tools, or controls. Must be able to communicate, listen, and move frequently throughout the day. Must be able to frequently climb, reach overhead, stoop, or kneel. The position may require lifting heavy objects (up to 100 pounds) and performing strenuous physical labor under varying conditions and locations.
