Strategic Purchaser

Summary

Procurement role covering strategic purchasing of current products, additionally supporting project purchasing activities for new products. This role will assist projects by sourcing and onboarding new suppliers including validation, price negotiations and supply transition management. Working as part of the Purchasing team within the Operations Department liaising closely with the Engineering Department and reporting to the Director of Operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Create and control purchases, focusing on the Alternative Energy (AE).
• Obtain quotations, analyze, and negotiate the purchases in accordance with Stäubli policy and supply chain plan.
• Work closely with our global and local Stäubli ECS AE S&OP team and suppliers to review and communicate purchase: strategy, history, and forecasts.
• Direct and deploy the various procurement and supply chain strategies, (Contracts, Schedule Agreements, Kanban, VMI, Consigned Stock).
• Strategically source new suppliers as new product or growth opportunities develop in all business market segments.
• Coordination of engineering and suppliers early in the design process, to aid in cost reduction activities and reduce time to market.
• Supply Transition Management of key projects, from small volume to large volume.
• Utilize SAP to track, communicate, report, and act on purchasing activity to assure that parts are on available: at the right: place, time, quantity, cost, and quality.
• Assist Accounting Department in reconciling Purchase Orders.
• Keep apprised of economic and industry trends that affect Stäubli and make decisions to adequately meet changing conditions.
• Maintain good relationships with the supply chain.
• Provide purchasing cover for Planner/Buyer as required
• Perform other duties as required or assigned by Manager.

• Proficient with Microsoft Office, with a focus on Microsoft Word, Excel.
• Understanding of basic mathematical calculations such as, ratios, percentages, and error rates.

Experience:

• Bachelor's Degree in business, economics, logistics, supply chain or in a related field
• 5 years purchasing experience and/or training.
• Experience with purchasing in SAP or other ERP system. 
• Experience in a technical environment
• Experience with various manufacturing methods in a technical environment i.e., machining, plating, injection molding, and stamping.
