What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sr. RF Engineer position at Stealth Talent Solutions?
General Summary
The Senior RF Design Engineer will be responsible for the design, development, testing, and support of high-performance RF systems and components. This role emphasizes RF signal chain ownership, hands-on schematic and PCB layout work, and lab-based validation, along with supporting existing designs through troubleshooting, updates, and component obsolescence.
The ideal candidate has strong RF fundamentals, practical lab experience, and a proven ability to take designs from concept through production. Most designs operate at 6 GHz and below, with potential exposure to higher-frequency work over time. This is a fully onsite role in Orlando, FL.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
RF Design & Development
- Design and develop RF systems and components across the RF signal chain (e.g., amplifiers, mixers, oscillators, filters, front-end architectures).
- Own schematic capture and PCB layout, with attention to RF best practices.
- Understand and clearly communicate what is happening behind the antenna, including signal flow, gain, noise, and system-level tradeoffs.
- Perform RF simulation and modeling as needed to predict performance and optimize designs.
- Support existing designs through manufacturing troubleshooting and obsolescence management.
- Develop technical documentation, specifications, and design artifacts.
- Design to meet EMC/EMI and environmental requirements.
- Participate in antenna-related discussions as needed, though this role is not antenna-design focused.
Testing & Validation
- Develop and execute RF test plans to validate performance and reliability.
- Perform hands-on RF testing and troubleshooting using:
- Spectrum analyzers
- Network analyzers
- Signal generators
- Apply RF test automation concepts and best practices where applicable.
- Analyze test results and iterate designs to meet system requirements.
- Work extensively in a lab environment, including soldering and hardware bring-up.
Collaboration & Support
- Work closely with cross-functional teams (hardware, software, mechanical) to integrate RF subsystems into complete products.
- Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and manufacturing technicians.
- Support transition from design to production in collaboration with manufacturing teams.
- Help reduce single-thread dependency within the RF design team.
