What are the responsibilities and job description for the Internal Auditor position at Steamship Authority?
Internal Auditor
The Steamship Authority is currently seeking to fill the position of Internal Auditor at the Steamship Authority's Falmouth administrative office location. This is a full-time, non-union position working Monday through Friday. The function of this position is to examine records, reports and documents relating to all aspects of the Steamship Authority's operation, including report findings and make recommendations where necessary.
Duties and Responsibilities:
* Conduct on-going risk assessments of assigned operational areas in established timelines.
* Collect and analyze data to detect deficient controls, fraud or non-compliance with management policies.
* Reconcile all ticket seller activity, including posting revenue to appropriate general ledger accounts.
* Deal directly with customers' and ticket sellers' problems and determine and implement appropriate adjustments.
* Coordination of permanent project assignments, including concession, parking lot and inventory operations.
* Ensure that the company policies and procedures are followed.
* Reconcile bank statements.
* Assist in the process of testing computer enhancements.
* Perform other special projects and accounting duties as assigned.
The ideal candidate should have a thorough understanding of accounting principles and procedures in a computerized environment, be able to recognize and resolve problems of routine and non-routine nature, and communicate effectively with customers and employees. The candidate must have a Bachelor's Degree in accounting or related area.
