Position Details:
- Shifts:
- 1st Shift: Monday - Thursday; 5:00am - 3:00pm
- Weekend Shift: Friday / Saturday / Sunday, 5:00am - 5:00pm
- Pay Range: Up to $34.00/hour (based upon experience, skill set, and shift)
Key Responsibilities:
- Operates both automatic MIG/TIG robotic welding machines to weld parts which are standardized and where operation is repetitive
- Prepares and position fixtures prior to welding and preassemble small mechanical units or components having a limited number of parts prior to placing on welding machine
- Welds in flat and horizontal positions using GMAW process on carbon and stainless steel
- Assists with set up of fixtures and/or mechanical feeds and safety devices as needed
- Performs first piece inspection/and or inspection of parts using measurement tools to ensure parts are produced per specification or print; obtain sign off by Quality Control personnel
- Inspects work visually during the operation process for weld defects
- Accurately logs job information into computer and reports production labor
- Accurately enters data into Shoplogix system
- Ensures parts are made or processed in a prompt manner and production output figures are met
- Stays alert to any malfunction of machine or problem with weld quality so production can be stopped prior to producing scrap or incurring damage to the machine or fixtures
- Performs basic weld machine maintenance such as straightening torches, changing wire barrels, contact tips, nozzles, diffusers, etc.
- Chip or grind off excess weld, slag, or spatter, using hand scrapers or power chippers or portable grinders
- Repairs weld defects when needed
- Maintains an orderly and clean work area at all times
- Understands and follows Company policies, as well as safety and quality policy and procedures
- Perform any other duties as assigned by Lead or Supervisor
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent
Experience and/or Training:
- 6 months of robotic welding, or combined education and experience
- Previous knowledge of fixtures and weld set up parameters (amps, volts, etc.)
- Overhead crane experience
- Basic ability to read and interpret documents such as blueprints, welding symbols, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
- Basic math and measurement skills (addition, subtraction, decimal and fraction conversions); able to accurately read a tape measure
- Ability to meet or exceed production rate requirements
- Ability to successfully complete written and hands-on weld assessment
- Ability to meet Company quality standards
- Ability to perform weld inspections, identify weld defects and repair welds
- Must have and wear protective gear designated for the department
- Must be able to stand while performing the job
- Must be able to reach, bend, reach above shoulders, and move from place to place
- Ability to regularly talk and listen
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include a Jaeger eye score greater than or equal to J2, close vision, distance vision, color vision, and depth perception
- Ability to lift and or carry up to 50 lbs. frequently
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience and/or Training:
- American Welding Society (AWS) D1.1, D1.3, and D1.6 weld certification
- GTAW knowledge
- QC and inspection experience using inspection tools
- Experience using an ERP software (Epicor/CMS)
- Prior exposure to Shoplogix data entry
- Aluminum welding experience
