Overview
The Sales Representative job at SWVA involves the entire sales and marketing process – market research, product development, sales prospecting, order acquisition, order entry, customer service, forecasting, margin analysis, capacity planning, pricing, and claims handling. It is an excellent opportunity for a self-driven individual who wants to be involved in all aspects of sales and marketing.
We are looking for a Sales Representative with the initiative and drive to seek out new customers for existing products and bring potential new products to the company for evaluation. This involves a high level of inquisitiveness and creativity. The Sales Representative will also learn about SWVA’s existing customer base and products to provide customer service.
Responsibilities
- Excellent verbal, written and listening communications skills. Must gather customer requirements and communicate this information to the appropriate group within SWVA to determine the necessary customer requirements such as pricing, product quality, and service issues.
- Negotiation skills with both the customer and internal groups within the company
- Must be personable and able to develop relationships with customers to provide the best service possible
- Excellent analytical skills. Sales Reps must be able to analyze costs, prices, and margins at various volume levels. They must also be able to take acquired market information and translate it into sales forecasts. Sales Reps will also input marketing forecasts to production scheduling. Will be trained on the SWVA order entry system and how it interfaces with the inventory, shipping, and billing systems.

Qualifications
- Knowledge of structural steel products is a plus
- Desire to negotiate and close deals, plus the ability to resolve conflict
